Kolkata, March 3 (NationPress) Tragically, three young individuals lost their lives when the car they were in went out of control and plunged into a pond, as reported by the police on Tuesday. This tragic event occurred on Monday night in the Islampur region of North Dinajpur district. In addition, four others sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Surajit Das, Boni Das, and Mukunda Das, all aged between 18 and 20 years.
Among the injured, one has been recognized as Atanu Shil, a resident of the Nadia district. He, along with the other three injured, has been taken to the Islampur Sub-divisional Hospital.
Reports indicate that these seven youths were employed at a motor garage owned by a man named Subal Karmakar under the jurisdiction of Islampur police station.
It has also been revealed that Atanu Shil and Mukund Das, both from Nadia, were romantically interested in the same woman, leading to a heated argument between them. Following this, Atanu checked into a hotel in Islampur on Monday night.
Subsequently, Mukund, Atanu, and five other friends took a ride in the car of the garage owner's son, heading towards the Fatipukur area near the Bihar border of Islampur.
During the ride, a confrontation erupted between Atanu and Mukund, resulting in Atanu allegedly being assaulted inside the vehicle. This conflict escalated, causing the driver to lose control and the car to crash into the pond.
Local residents, alerted by the loud noise, rushed to the scene and discovered the car submerged in the pond, quickly rescuing the seven occupants.
Regrettably, three of them had already succumbed to their injuries.
The bodies of the deceased youths have been retrieved, while the four injured individuals were transported to Islampur Sub-divisional Hospital for medical attention.
Upon being informed about the accident, officers from the Putia Police Station in Bihar arrived at the scene. The three bodies were subsequently sent to Kishanganj Medical Hospital in Bihar for autopsy. A joint investigation into the incident has been initiated by the police from Bihar and Islampur Police Station in North Dinajpur district.
