Jerusalem, Jan 14 (NationPress) - The Houthi forces from Yemen launched a missile towards Israel early Tuesday morning, which set off sirens across extensive regions, including Tel Aviv and various Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, as reported by an Israeli military announcement.

According to the military, multiple attempts were made to intercept the missile, and it was likely intercepted.

No injuries were reported; however, the assault resulted in property damage. Police indicated that residences in Mevo Beitar and Tzur Hadassah on the outskirts of Jerusalem sustained damage. A police-released image depicted a missile fragment lodged in the roof of a home.

Bomb disposal units and additional police personnel are on-site to evaluate the damage and secure the area.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea declared, “We executed a military operation against a crucial target of the Israeli adversary in Tel Aviv, utilizing a hypersonic ballistic missile,” during a broadcast on Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV.

Sarea further noted that the operation was successful and stated that his faction had also launched an attack employing four drones, targeting “vital assets” in Tel Aviv.

He pledged that the Houthi’s offensive actions against Israel “will persist until the aggression on the Gaza Strip ceases.”

This attack followed previous efforts by Houthi forces, who had launched a drone and a ballistic missile towards Israel, both of which were intercepted, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

On the preceding day, Israeli media disclosed the interception of a “missile launched from Yemen” that disrupted air operations at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

Additionally, the Houthi group had previously announced its launch of a new missile and drone assault on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea, claiming the operation lasted nine hours.

Sarea stated, “This marks the fifth time we have targeted the aircraft carrier since its arrival in the Red Sea.”

He added, “The operation fulfilled its objectives, compelling the aircraft carrier to exit the operational area and retreat far to the north of the Red Sea.”

Since November 2023, the Houthis have been executing missile and drone strikes against Israel while disrupting “Israeli-linked” shipping in the Red Sea to express solidarity with Palestinians amid their ongoing conflict with Israelis in the Gaza Strip.
