Riyadh, Dec 23 (NationPress) Emphasizing the strengthening maritime connections between India and Saudi Arabia, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship Sarthak, along with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, conducted an onboard reception for officials from the Royal Navy, Border Guards, and Port Authorities, as well as members of the Indian community on Tuesday.
"In the spirit of friendship! An onboard reception was organized by ICGS Sarthak and the Embassy of India for Saudi officials from the Royal Navy, Border Guards, and Port Authorities, alongside the Indian community, reaffirming the shared commitment to maritime security between India and Saudi Arabia," the Indian Embassy in Riyadh announced on X.
Meanwhile, Abu Mathen George, the Indian Charge d'Affaires (ad interim) to Saudi Arabia, visited ICGS Sarthak, where he received a briefing on its goodwill mission to Saudi Arabia, led by Captain Thiam Newton, Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
The visit included a Ceremonial Guard inspection, a tour of the ship, and engaging discussions with the crew.
As part of its goodwill initiative, ICGS Sarthak hosted a yoga session on the ship's deck on Monday, which was attended by members of the Indian community and local school children.
To further enhance maritime cooperation, Captain Thiam Newton and the ICGS Sarthak delegation met with Rear Admiral Sajer bin Rafeed Al Anezi, Commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, and Rear Admiral Yasser bin Ali Al Numair, Commander of King Fahad Naval Academy in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Earlier on Sunday, during its port call at Dammam, Captain Thiam Newton, accompanied by Indian Defence Attache Colonel Sarabjeet Singh, met Saudi officials, including Major General Ali A Al-Ahmari, Commander of Border Guards (Eastern Region), and Captain Fahad Ahmed Al-Amer, Director General at King Abdulaziz Port.
According to the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, these discussions reaffirmed the increasing momentum in India–Saudi maritime collaboration.
ICG Ship Sarthak arrived at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam on Sunday for a five-day goodwill visit.
Officials from the Border Guards, Royal Saudi Naval Forces, and Port Authorities welcomed ICGS Sarthak in Dammam.
