Islamabad, Feb 12 (NationPress) Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has disclosed in a medical report presented to the Supreme Court that he is experiencing only 15 percent vision in his right eye, according to local media on Thursday.

A comprehensive seven-page document submitted by Salman Safdar, the lawyer for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to the Supreme Court concerning his visit to Adiala Jail noted, "Imran was diagnosed with a blood clot that resulted in significant damage, and despite the treatment he received, including an injection, he is left with just 15 percent vision in his right eye."

The court had designated Safdar as an amicus curiae (friend of the court) and instructed him to meet with the PTI founder and provide a report on February 11, as reported by Geo News.

Recently, Imran Khan was transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an eye procedure. However, PTI indicated that neither his family nor party leadership were made aware of his medical treatment.

The report indicated that Imran Khan has not previously disclosed details about his health, despite being 73 years old and involved in numerous legal challenges. He expressed concern that the relevant jail authorities did not address his health issues seriously.

Initially, Imran Khan had normal 6x6 vision in both eyes until October 2025, when he began to experience persistent blurred vision, which he repeatedly reported to the jail superintendent. Unfortunately, his complaints were ignored.

During his conversation with Salman Safdar, Khan revealed that he suffered a sudden and complete loss of vision in his right eye, diagnosed by an eye specialist from PIMS as being caused by a blood clot.

In his report, Safdar noted that during their meeting, Imran Khan appeared "visibly troubled and profoundly affected by the loss of vision and the lack of prompt medical care." Throughout the meeting, his eyes were watery, requiring him to frequently use a tissue. The report indicated that he had only received eye drops for nearly three months, which failed to alleviate his condition, leading to a major deterioration in the vision of his right eye.

Moreover, despite being 73 years old and needing a dental checkup, Imran Khan mentioned that a dentist had not seen him in over two years, despite his requests. He has also stated that he has been denied meetings with his lawyer and immediate family while in custody.

Point of View

It is imperative to maintain an unbiased perspective while reporting on the health concerns of public figures such as Imran Khan. His situation raises valid questions about the treatment of political leaders within the judicial system. The focus should remain on ensuring that all individuals receive appropriate medical care, irrespective of their political affiliations.
