Dhaka, April 6 (NationPress) Pranay Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday. The discussions centered around strategies to bolster bilateral cooperation and engagement across various crucial sectors.
Verma articulated India's desire to strengthen relations through a positive, constructive, and forward-looking approach, emphasizing shared interests and mutual benefits.

"The High Commissioner reiterated India's commitment to collaborate with the government and citizens of Bangladesh, adopting a positive and constructive approach based on mutual interests and benefits," as stated by the Indian High Commission on X.
Recently, Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India, M. Riaz Hamidullah, met with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi to discuss enhancing defense cooperation, including joint training programs.
They explored opportunities for deeper partnerships to foster regional peace and security.
These interactions signal a significant recalibration of India-Bangladesh relations, which had suffered during the 18-month period of the previous Muhammad Yunus-led interim government, marked by rising anti-India sentiments and attacks on Hindu minorities.
Last month, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the importance of the bilateral relationship, indicating ongoing engagement from both sides, with India aiming to not only sustain but also strengthen and expand its multidimensional ties with Bangladesh.
"We are engaged in continuous discussions. Our goal is to not just maintain our diverse relationships with Bangladesh but to further enhance and diversify them," Jaiswal stated.
