Jerusalem, Dec 16 (NationPress) – On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar expressed strong condemnation of the recent terror strike at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, emphasizing that both India and Israel maintain a strict policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
In a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar in Jerusalem, EAM Jaishankar extended heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of life resulting from the attack during Hanukkah festivities in Sydney.
During his visit, EAM Jaishankar noted that this occasion allows both nations to further discuss the trajectory of their bilateral relationship.
"Before I begin, I want to express our deepest and most sincere condolences for the lives lost in the terror attack at Hanukkah celebrations in Bondi Beach. I firmly state that we condemn this act in the strongest terms. For both India and Israel, we share a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism. We value your unwavering support in our ongoing battle against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," said the External Affairs Minister.
Referring to India and Israel as complimentary partners, EAM Jaishankar highlighted the significant growth of their strategic partnership over the past decade.
Regarding discussions with Sa'ar, EAM Jaishankar remarked, "Today, we will be focusing on our strategic partnership, which has evolved remarkably over the last ten years. It encompasses various dimensions including government-to-government (G2G), business-to-business (B2B), and people-to-people (P2P) interactions as well.
"Our relationship touches upon a vast array of domains today. Our aim is to build upon the finalized work plan by our teams to strategically position our relationship for the future, as we are indeed very complimentary partners and must leverage that to its fullest potential."
EAM Jaishankar also reiterated India’s backing of the Gaza peace plan, stating, "I am keen to hear your thoughts on the regional situation. India supports the Gaza peace plan and aspires for it to bring about a lasting and durable resolution."
Earlier that day, EAM Jaishankar arrived in Israel, where he was received by Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar.
