Jerusalem, Dec 16 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar convened with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar in Jerusalem on Tuesday, where both parties expressed their unwavering determination to tackle the mutual threat of terrorism.
During their discussions, the leaders explored the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and its potential for growth in various sectors.
EAM Jaishankar shared on X, "It was a pleasure to meet FM Gideon Sa'ar in Jerusalem today. I conveyed my heartfelt condolences regarding the recent terror attack during the Hanukkah celebrations and reaffirmed our joint commitment to addressing the common challenge of terrorism. We engaged in fruitful talks about our strategic partnership and its further enhancement across multiple domains. Additionally, we exchanged views on regional dynamics, the Gaza Peace Plan, and the pursuit of lasting peace."
Sa'ar highlighted the strengthening ties between India and Israel, mentioning their adoption of a collaborative and ambitious plan for bilateral relations for the year 2026.
"I am delighted to host my friend, the Foreign Minister of India, Dr. S Jaishankar, for this reciprocal visit, just a month following my trip to Delhi. Our relations, as the world’s largest democracy and one of its fastest-growing economies, are strengthening," noted the Israeli FM on X.
"Today, we have established an ambitious joint work plan for our bilateral relations for 2026. Our connections will continue to grow vigorously in all areas: political, security, economic, entrepreneurship, cyber, agriculture, water, culture, and beyond. This is a strategic partnership we are developing together!" he added.
At the outset of their meeting, EAM Jaishankar condemned the recent terror attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, emphasizing that both India and Israel uphold a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism.
EAM Jaishankar expressed condolences for the lives lost in the terror attack during the Hanukkah celebrations in Sydney, stating, "Before I proceed, I wish to extend our sincere condolences over the loss of life from the terror attack during the Hanukkah celebrations at Bondi Beach. We strongly condemn this act, and both India and Israel share a zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism. We appreciate your ongoing support in our battle against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."
Labeling India and Israel as complimentary partners, EAM Jaishankar remarked that the strategic cooperation between the two nations has remarkably evolved over the past decade.
Additionally, EAM Jaishankar voiced India’s support for the Gaza peace initiative, stating, "I affirm that India backs the Gaza peace plan and anticipates it will lead to a lasting and durable resolution."
