New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Recently, India and Russia evaluated their bilateral relations at the second international conference titled 'Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations', underlining the critical measures necessary for policy sustainability in the years to come. The two countries committed to enhancing cooperation and fostering deeper mutual understanding as they look to the future, according to a detailed report.

"Organized by the Russian International Affairs Council, a non-governmental organization focused on Russia's foreign policies, the conference assembled experts from both nations' academic and diplomatic sectors for a thorough dialogue on significant bilateral issues and an exchange of perspectives on urgent regional and global topics," reported Modern Diplomacy.

"Key discussion themes included policy implications amid significant transformations, particularly the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran in the Middle East and its worldwide repercussions; economic architecture impacts; and the necessary measures to ensure security stability with support from geopolitical allies," it stated.

India and Russia have developed collaborative efforts across multiple sectors and actively engage in numerous alliances, including BRICS-plus. This meeting underscores that the strategic partnership with India is an essential aspect of Russia's foreign policy.

As highlighted in the Modern Diplomacy report, India's independent foreign policy and focus on national interests have earned it significant respect on the global stage. Consequently, India's stature as a leading political and economic power continues to grow within the emerging multipolar world of the 21st century.

The report noted that the friendship between India and Russia serves as a benchmark for how nations should cultivate their relationships based on equality, trust, and mutual respect, while considering each other's interests. The reaffirmation of aligned strategic objectives occurred after Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to New Delhi in 2025, with the Kremlin anticipating PM Modi's visit in 2026. In 2025, trade between India and Russia approached USD 60 billion, with both leaders aiming to reach USD 100 billion by 2030.

"Both nations maintain close foreign policy coordination, which is crucial amid the current geopolitical turbulence, particularly the severe military and political crisis in the Persian Gulf, instigated by the United States and Israel. Moscow and New Delhi are dedicated to democratizing international relations based on universally accepted norms of international law, particularly the principles of the UN Charter, promoting interconnectivity and indivisibility," detailed the report.

The two countries collaborate in multilateral settings such as the United Nations, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the G20. This year, India leads the BRICS chairmanship, and Russia is prepared to support India throughout this tenure.

"In conclusion, implementing the expansive and multifaceted Russian-Indian agenda requires analytical and expert assistance for the efforts of foreign ministries, various government agencies, and the business sector. At the conference's conclusion, both parties sincerely pledged to enhance cooperation between Russia and India and to deepen mutual understanding as they progress into the future," the report stated.
