Moscow, April 13 (NationPress) Russia is eager to further develop multifaceted cooperation with India, as stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
"We extend our congratulations to our Indian friends on this significant day. We are confident in the ongoing rapid and consistent evolution of friendly ties and the enhancement of Russian-Indian relations," the Ministry remarked.
The bilateral relationship is marked by reliability, a high frequency of political communication, and a particularly privileged strategic partnership, it added.
"These ties are defined by a strong level of mutual trust, respect for national interests, and similar or aligned perspectives on crucial global and regional political issues. Annual meetings and discussions at the highest levels address key cooperation areas and urgent international and regional challenges," the statement further noted.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also highlighted the successful development of cultural, humanitarian, trade, and economic cooperation between the two countries, with nuclear energy being one of the critical areas of collaboration.
Stressing that Moscow and New Delhi are dedicated to fostering a polycentric world order grounded in sovereign equality and adherence to international law, it mentioned that both nations support a more significant role for the Global South in economic governance mechanisms.
"Our countries strive to ensure stability and security on both global and regional fronts, closely collaborating within BRICS and SCO. Russia has continually backed India's bid for permanent membership in the UN Security Council," it added.
Diplomatic ties between Russia and India were initiated on April 13, 1947. Commemorating the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations on Sunday, a cycling event took place in New Delhi, attracting over 300 participants.
This cycling rally also celebrated the 80th anniversary of Russia's triumph in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, took to X to convey his greetings on the 78th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
"Warm greetings to our Indian friends on the 78th anniversary of Russia-India diplomatic relations! Our steadfast friendship, mutual respect, and strategic partnership are a source of pride for us. We are dedicated to elevating these cherished relations to new heights. Hail Russia, Hail India!" he posted.
The strategic partnership between Russia and India is characterized by the breadth and depth of interactions across politics, trade, technology, science, education, and culture, as stated by the Russian Embassy.
It announced that New Delhi and Moscow are working on investment initiatives, developing transport infrastructure, and collaborating in space exploration and nuclear energy.
"Key focus areas include energy security and military-technical cooperation," the Russian Embassy statement indicated.
"The dynamic nature of Russian-Indian interactions at all levels, coupled with record trade volumes, signifies our countries' commitment to further advancing equal, trusting, and mutually beneficial cooperation. Bilateral tourism is on the rise; business, cultural, and educational exchanges are expanding," it continued.
