Did the Delegation Confront EU Leaders in Belgium About India's Stance on Terrorism?

Brussels, June 5 (NationPress) The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, headed by senior BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, engaged in a series of significant discussions in Belgium with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), highlighting India's unwavering commitment against cross-border terrorism.

The delegation visited the European Parliament and held talks with MEPs from the Delegation for Relations with India, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), and the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE).

In these meetings, the Indian representatives delivered a comprehensive overview of the ongoing challenge posed by cross-border terrorism aimed at India, particularly emphasizing the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam and India's calculated and strategic response through Operation Sindoor.

The discussions at the Parliament also centered on enhancing India-EU strategic cooperation in counter-terrorism initiatives, while broader themes of high-level diplomatic interactions and deeper parliamentary exchanges were also explored.

The Indian Embassy stated, "Taking India's firm message against terrorism to the global community, members of the All-Party Delegation met with MEPs to discuss the fight against terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, global peace, and the strengthening of India-EU relations."

The European Union clearly condemned the horrific attack in Pahalgam and expressed its support for India.

"The EU representatives were informed about the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack and India's calculated response through Operation Sindoor, conveying a message of zero tolerance towards terrorism. MEPs expressed their solidarity with the victims of the attack," the embassy added.

The Indian delegation also conversed with notable think tanks and strategic analysts in Brussels, sharing insights on the global terrorism landscape and New Delhi's expectations from the EU in addressing such threats.

These conversations further solidified the shared belief in the necessity for a coordinated global response to terrorism.

"During our visit to Brussels, my colleagues in the all-party delegation and I engaged in an extensive discussion about the menace of terrorism, especially cross-border terrorism targeting India. We deliberated on India's counter-terrorism strategies, particularly Operation Sindoor, with prominent think tanks in the region. Our interaction highlighted a unified and clear stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism," Ravi Shankar Prasad stated in a post on X.

The nine-member delegation represents a diverse political spectrum: Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Gulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), former Union Minister M.J. Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

Moreover, the delegates engaged with members of the Indian diaspora, who expressed their profound solidarity with the victims of recent terrorist attacks and supported India's robust and principled approach against terrorism and its zero-tolerance policy.

The Indian parliamentarians emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora in amplifying India's voice on the international stage.

On Wednesday, the delegation began its agenda by laying a floral tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Embassy—a solemn reaffirmation of India's enduring commitment to the principles of peace, non-violence, and universal brotherhood.

After concluding visits to France, Italy, Denmark, and the UK, the Indian delegation is in Belgium as part of India's global diplomatic outreach campaign to underscore the importance of Operation Sindoor and the ongoing battle against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
