Did India's all-party delegation achieve a breakthrough in Slovenia?

Ljubljana, May 27 (NationPress) The Indian all-party parliamentary delegation, headed by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, articulated India's fresh stance of zero tolerance toward terrorism and its dismissal of nuclear coercion from Pakistan during a fruitful dialogue with the President of the Slovenian Association for International Relations (SDMO), Marjan Setinc, along with other senior officials. The delegation emphasized India's response to the horrific April 22 Pahalagam terror attack and the subsequent initiation of Operation Sindoor.

“A successful mission concludes. The all-party delegation led by MP Kanimozhi has wrapped up its insightful and highly effective visit to Slovenia. Extensive discussions and impactful public messaging have garnered support and appreciation for India’s new standard of zero tolerance against cross-border terrorism,” the Embassy of India in Slovenia shared on X.

The embassy noted that in-depth conversations with senior foreign policy experts were instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of India’s principled position and bolstering cooperation between India and Slovenia in combating terrorism.

The delegation, spearheaded by Kanimozhi, included Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta (Retd.), RJD MP Prem Chand Gupta, AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal, and Former Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the UN, Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri.

Continuing their interactions on the second day in Slovenia, the delegation met with Marko Lotric, President of the National Council of Slovenia, reiterating India's steadfast position of zero tolerance toward terrorism and the 'new normal' following Operation Sindoor. They acknowledged Slovenia’s role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in advocating for global peace and its unequivocal denunciation of terrorism that must be eradicated.

“During our second day in Slovenia, we had a meaningful exchange with Marko Lotric, President of the National Council of Slovenia. We reaffirmed India's firm position of zero tolerance towards terrorism and examined the evolving global security landscape after Operation Sindoor. We also recognized Slovenia's significant contributions as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC), particularly its clear and consistent condemnation of terrorism and its dedication to global peace,” Ashok Mittal shared on X.

Earlier on Monday, the delegation engaged with Predrag Bakovic, Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly, and Miroslav Gregoric of the India-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, affirming India's strong commitment to zero tolerance against terrorism and national consensus on this matter. The Slovenian representatives reiterated their condemnation of terrorism as pure evil that cannot be justified.

The delegation elaborated on India's 'new normal' of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism and appreciated Slovenia’s unequivocal denunciation of the Pahalagam terror attack and its support for India in its struggle against terrorism during their meeting with Vojko Volk, State Secretary and National Coordinator for National and International Security in the Office of the Prime Minister of Slovenia.

Later, the delegation held a thorough and engaging interaction with Slovenian media, including notable newspapers and television networks, shedding light on India’s decisive actions against cross-border terrorism as a new standard and the national political consensus in India regarding absolute zero tolerance towards terrorism from Pakistan.

They also conversed with a diverse array of dignitaries from the government, academia, business sectors, think tanks, and prominent members of the Indian diaspora at a reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador to Slovenia, Amit Narang.

This delegation is a part of India's global diplomatic outreach initiative to underscore the significance of Operation Sindoor and India's ongoing struggle against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism, having arrived in Slovenia following a successful visit to Russia, reaffirming India's unwavering stance on combating terrorism.
