Inflation in Bangladesh Hits Four-Month Peak in November

Dhaka, Dec 5 (NationPress) Inflation in Bangladesh surged to 11.38 per cent in November, reaching its highest point in four months, largely fueled by rising food prices, according to a report released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Thursday.
The data indicated that the inflation rate was 10.87 per cent in October, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Food inflation increased remarkably to 13.80 per cent in November, up from 12.66 per cent in the previous month. The inflation rate for non-food items also rose to 9.39 per cent in November, compared to 9.34 per cent in October, the figures revealed.
The national average inflation rate escalated to 9.73 per cent for the fiscal year 2023-24 (July 2023-June 2024), significantly exceeding the budgetary target of 7.5 per cent for this fiscal year, as noted by Xinhua news agency.
In the preceding fiscal year 2022-23, the overall inflation was recorded at 9.02 per cent.
