Tehran, July 11 (NationPress) Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a former high-ranking advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has suggested a potential assassination plot against US President Donald Trump, indicating he could be targeted by a drone while enjoying the sun at his estate in Florida. “Trump has engaged in actions that may prevent him from sunbathing in Mar-a-Lago. As he relaxes there, a small drone could strike him in the navel. It's quite straightforward,” Larijani was quoted by Iran International during a widely shared interview on Iranian television.
This ominous statement follows Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, concluding a 12-day conflict that escalated due to Israel's Operation Rising Lion on June 13, which aimed at critical Iranian military and nuclear targets.
In retaliation, Iran initiated missile strikes on various Israeli cities and subsequently targeted US military installations in Qatar and Iraq. These actions were a direct response to American airstrikes on its nuclear sites located in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
Trump dismissed the threat lightly during an interview with Fox News, where he was queried about his last sunbathing experience. “It's been ages. Maybe when I was about seven. I'm not really into it,” the President replied. “I suppose it’s a threat. Although, I doubt it, but maybe it is,” he added.
Recently, a prominent Shia cleric in Iran, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, labeled President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “enemies of God” in a fatwa (religious edict) issued against them.
“Any individual or regime that poses a threat to the Leader or Marja (May God forbid) is deemed an enemy of God,” the cleric stated in his fatwa. “Any collaboration or support for such an enemy by Muslims or Islamic nations is considered haram or forbidden. It is imperative for Muslims globally to make these adversaries regret their words and actions,” the fatwa continued.
Reports indicate that the fatwa was issued after alleged threats made by Trump and Israeli officials against Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump had previously stated on social media that he rescued Khamenei from “a very ugly and shameful death” and accused the Iranian Supreme Leader of falsely claiming victory over Israel.
