Iran's IRGC Introduces New Subterranean Missile Facility: Reports Indicate

Seoul, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran has introduced a new subterranean missile facility, according to reports from local media.

State-run IRIB TV aired footage on Friday night showcasing the facility, referred to as a 'missile city.' This event featured the presence of IRGC Commander Hossein Salami and Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, who leads the IRGC's Aerospace Force.

The underground base is equipped with advanced Iranian missiles such as the 'Emad,' 'Qadr,' and 'Qiam,' all of which are liquid-fueled, as narrated by state television. This facility is among hundreds operated by the IRGC's Aerospace Force, as reported by Xinhua news agency, citing IRIB.

The footage revealed that missiles from this base were utilized in Iran's second retaliatory military operation against Israel in October of the previous year.

During his visit to the base, Salami commended the forces for their roles in the April 14, 2024, and subsequent October operations against Israel. He emphasized that Iran's defense systems and missile capabilities are 'growing daily' across various regions of the nation.

He dismissed assertions from 'enemies' claiming that Iran's missile production capacity was facing disruptions, confidently stating that the nation's missile capabilities are 'increasing and improving every day' in terms of quantity, quality, efficiency, and design.

On October 1, 2024, Iran launched numerous ballistic missiles towards Israel, characterizing the assault as a retaliation for the assassinations of prominent resistance figures, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and senior Iranian commander Abbas Nilforoushan.

In response, Iranian forces recently conducted an exercise following reports from the American news outlet Axios that US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had presented options to President Joe Biden for a potential US military strike on Iranian nuclear sites 'if the Iranians advance towards a nuclear weapon before January 20, 2025.'

Last week, Iran's armed forces initiated a comprehensive joint air defense exercise near the Natanz uranium enrichment facility located in central Isfahan province.

The 'Eqtedar' (Power) 1403 exercise was ordered by Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Commander Qader Rahimzadeh, according to IRIB TV.

The initial phase is conducted by Aerospace Force units of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), focusing on 'comprehensive point defense' of the nuclear site against various aerial threats under challenging electronic warfare conditions, as stated by IRIB.

IRGC spokesman Ali-Mohammad Naeini noted on Monday that these annual drills are designed to sustain and enhance military readiness, counter potential military threats and sabotage efforts, and elevate national morale.
