What New Developments Are Emerging from Iran's Underground Missile Base Amid US Tensions?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tehran, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran has showcased a new underground missile base in the midst of escalating tensions with the United States, as reported by local media.
This unveiling occurred during a visit from Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Abdolrahim Mousavi and Seyed Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC's Aerospace Division, on Wednesday (local time). The Xinhua news agency quoted the semi-official Fars news agency.
During the visit, the capabilities and operational readiness of the IRGC's missile units were evaluated, and senior commanders received updates on the strategic unit's progress and preparedness.
At the base, Mousavi stated that Iran has enhanced its deterrence capabilities by upgrading its ballistic missiles across all technical dimensions.
“We are prepared for any actions from our adversaries. Following the 12-day conflict with Israel last June, our military doctrine has shifted from defensive to offensive, focusing on executing rapid and large-scale operations while employing asymmetric warfare tactics,” he remarked.
These comments come as tensions persist between Iran and the US, particularly with Washington's increased military presence near Iran and threats directed at Tehran to either negotiate or face the risk of military action.
Recently, Mousavi cautioned that any misstep by the United States could trigger a regional conflict, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.
“The smallest error could give Iran the opportunity to act... Then, no American will be secure, and the region's flames will engulf the United States and its allies,” he warned.
