Ramallah, Nov 12 (NationPress) - Israeli officials are restricting the movement of numerous families belonging to Palestinian prisoners who have been deported to Egypt, according to Abdullah al-Zaghari, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, as reported on Wednesday.
Al-Zaghari characterized this Israeli action as “a systematic policy of collective punishment,” highlighting that several of these prisoners are enduring serious health issues and require ongoing medical attention as well as the support of their families, according to Xinhua News Agency.
He called on relevant organizations to intervene and halt this Israeli action, pointing out that numerous uncertainties surround the fate of the deportees, including their potential resettlement in different nations.
Israel has deported 383 prisoners to Egypt this year under a prisoner-hostage exchange arrangement with Hamas, and the majority of these individuals have remained in Egypt since their release, as stated by al-Zaghari in a press briefing.
As per the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israel has mandated that Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis must be permanently expelled if released, and they will not be permitted to return to their residences in the occupied West Bank.
To date, Israeli authorities have not issued any statements regarding the purported travel ban.
