Israel Claims Over 90% of Syria's Surface-to-Air Missile Systems Destroyed

Jerusalem, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared that it has significantly impaired Syria's air defense capabilities, eliminating over 90% of recognized strategic surface-to-air missile systems.

In an official statement, the IDF disclosed that it had been performing a thorough evaluation of Syria's situation, considering the possible downfall of Bashar al-Assad, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"In anticipation of such a situation, the Air Force has devised an extensive strike strategy aimed at neutralizing Syria's military capabilities, including strategic weaponry," the statement outlined.

In recent days, hundreds of Israeli fighter jets and aircraft have executed coordinated assaults, delivering substantial damage to Syria's most critical weaponry, including fighter jets, helicopters, missiles, UAVs, radars, and rockets.

The attacks also focused on several key Syrian air bases. The T4 Airport, located near northern Damascus, suffered considerable damage, resulting in the complete destruction of the SU-22 and SU-24 fighter squadrons stationed there. The "Ble" Airport, which hosts three additional fighter squadrons, and a nearby weapons storage facility were also targeted in the Israeli operations.

"Within 48 hours, the IDF targeted most of the strategic weapons stockpiles in Syria to prevent their acquisition by terrorist groups," IDF stated in a post on X.

Moreover, manufacturing and storage sites, including a crucial one in Syria's Homs region—which was identified as a vital part of Syria's Scud missile initiative—were also attacked.

The IDF's statement emphasized that these actions aimed to diminish Syria's advanced military capabilities amid escalating regional tensions.
