Jerusalem, Nov 14 (NationPress) Israel has obtained the remains of another hostage via the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the office of the Israeli prime minister.
The remains were delivered to military and Shin Bet security forces within the Strip on Thursday night. Following this, the body will be taken to Israel for identification, according to the statement.
This exchange was part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
Earlier that day, both Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas announced they would transfer the body, which was discovered in the Morag area, north of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The groups did not disclose the identity of the deceased hostage.
Prior to this latest transfer, Hamas had sent back the remains of 24 hostages to Israel under the ongoing ceasefire. Should the identity of the latest deceased hostage be confirmed, Hamas is still required to return three more bodies to Israel.
The ceasefire, which began on October 10, has significantly reduced Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, though they have not entirely ceased. Reports from Gaza's health authorities indicate that at least 260 Palestinians have been killed and 632 injured due to Israeli fire since October 11, bringing the total number of deaths from Israeli strikes since October 2023 to at least 69,187.
