Jerusalem, Feb 25 (NationPress) The Israeli military reported that it conducted strikes on two locations in Rafah, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, after detecting an attempted rocket launch originating from the Palestinian area.

While there were no immediate reports of injuries, witnesses noted the sound of explosions and observed flames and smoke billowing from one of the impacted sites. They also mentioned that ambulances swiftly arrived at the location, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.

As per a statement released by Israel's military, the Israeli Air Force targeted a specific region from which the attempted rocket launch was initiated earlier in the day. The military further indicated that it also struck a rocket launcher within Gaza.

Prior to this, a military spokesperson disclosed that a failed rocket launch from Gaza had been detected, with the projectile landing within the confines of the strip.

No Palestinian group has taken responsibility for the attempted launch.

These developments occurred against the backdrop of a delicate ceasefire established between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, which went into effect on January 19.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz instructed the military to gear up for a prolonged presence in refugee camps in the West Bank as Israel intensifies its ongoing extensive military operations in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The Israeli military expanded its activities on Sunday morning into Qabatiya, a city in the northern West Bank, where troops and bulldozers were reported to have entered the region, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Witnesses reported damage to infrastructure, home raids, searches, interrogations, and roadblocks created by earth mounds.
