Jerusalem, April 14 (NationPress) The Israeli military announced on Monday that it initiated a fresh series of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, targeting approximately 35 locations. Gaza health officials reported that the death toll from the recent Israeli offensives has climbed to 1,613.
The military's statement highlighted that among the struck sites was a weapons manufacturing facility in southern Gaza as well as a launch site with rocket launchers aimed at Israeli areas.
In the northern part of Gaza, Israeli forces detected a militant ambush situated a few hundred meters from their position, engaged in combat, and reportedly eliminated the terrorists with support from the Israeli Air Force.
The specific location of this incident and the number of casualties were not disclosed.
In Rafah, located in southern Gaza, Israeli troops successfully dismantled a 20-meter deep tunnel stretching several hundred meters, which the military described as a gathering place for Hamas operatives and a connection point for multiple tunnel routes in the vicinity.
Additionally, Israeli forces uncovered a Hamas weapons cache containing mortars, hand grenades, and explosives, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Since March 2, Israel has prohibited all humanitarian assistance from entering Gaza, concluding a two-month ceasefire with Hamas on March 18, which led to a resurgence of lethal air and ground operations in the region.
The latest round of Israeli strikes has resulted in 1,613 Palestinian deaths and injuries to 4,233 others, according to Gaza health authorities. The overall death toll in Gaza since the conflict reignited in October 2023 has escalated to 50,983, with 116,274 injured.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz indicated last week that Israel plans to broaden its military actions across the majority of the Gaza Strip. He urged residents to evacuate in anticipation of the forthcoming operations.
Katz also mentioned that for those interested, voluntary relocation to various countries would be feasible, aligning with a plan from Washington that Israel is actively pursuing, referring to a controversial proposal by US President Donald Trump for Gaza residents.
“This is the last opportunity to eliminate Hamas, free all Israeli hostages, and conclude the war,” Katz emphasized.
