Israeli Forces Target 40 Locations in Gaza, Leading to Numerous Casualties

Jerusalem, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Israeli military declared on Friday that it has launched operations targeting around 40 locations associated with Hamas throughout the Gaza Strip since Thursday. Reports from both Israeli and Palestinian sources indicate that these military actions have resulted in numerous casualties.
The airstrikes were aimed at Hamas' command and control centers, in addition to locations where Hamas militants had assembled to plan and carry out attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency revealed in a joint statement that these strikes led to the deaths of dozens of militants operating from these sites.
On the same day, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee took to the social media platform X, urging the inhabitants of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza to evacuate, cautioning them of an impending series of strikes in that region.
Furthermore, health officials in Gaza reported that at least 68 individuals lost their lives across Gaza on Thursday.
Additionally, the Israeli military reported that militants in Gaza fired a missile and two rockets toward Israel, with no injuries recorded. The missile, launched around noon targeting a military helicopter, was intercepted by Israeli defenses, causing sirens to sound in Kibbutz Be'eri located in southern Israel.
The two rockets, which were launched around 1:30 pm local time (1130 GMT) from northern Gaza towards southern Israel, resulted in one projectile landing near the community of Nir Am while the second fell in an open area, as stated by the Israeli military.
These attacks set off sirens in Sderot and the adjacent communities of Ibim and Nir Am in southern Israel.
As reported by Xinhua news agency, Hamas has not yet responded to these recent assaults.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel and Hamas have been embroiled in a violent conflict following Hamas's attack on southern Israel that claimed 1,200 lives. Israel retaliated with extensive air and ground operations against the besieged enclave, resulting in over 45,500 Palestinian deaths thus far.
