Israeli Airstrike Claims Lives of 20 Palestinians in Gaza

Gaza, Dec 5 (NationPress) At least 20 Palestinians have lost their lives due to an Israeli airstrike aimed at a shelter for displaced individuals located to the west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, as reported by Palestinian sources.
Local witnesses indicated on Wednesday that Israeli warplanes targeted the shelter situated in the Mawasi area with at least one missile strike.
In response to the incident, the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza released a statement, confirming that their teams are engaged in efforts to extinguish a fire that erupted in the tents following the airstrike, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
Medical personnel informed Xinhua that rescue teams have retrieved the remains of at least 20 victims, which include five children, while numerous injured individuals have been rushed to hospitals for treatment.
The Israeli army has yet to provide any comments regarding the airstrike.
This attack is part of a broader military campaign by Israel against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which serves as retaliation following a Hamas assault on the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, during which approximately 1,200 people were killed and around 250 hostages were taken.
As a result of the ongoing Israeli assaults, the Palestinian death toll in Gaza has tragically escalated to 44,532, according to a statement from health authorities based in Gaza.
