Houthis in Yemen Assert Responsibility for Missile Strike on Israel

Sanaa, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Houthi faction in Yemen has declared that it executed a missile strike aimed at Israel, successfully targeting a critical location.
"We have targeted a crucial area in Jaffa using a hypersonic missile," stated Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea during an announcement broadcast by Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV on Sunday.
Sarea affirmed, "The missile accomplished its mission," pledging that the group intends to launch additional long-range missiles at Israel until the conflict in Gaza comes to an end.
In response, Israel's military confirmed on Sunday that it intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen prior to its entry into Israeli airspace, reporting no casualties.
Since November 2023, the Houthi group has been involved in launching rocket and drone strikes against Israel and has interrupted shipping associated with Israel in the Red Sea, purportedly to demonstrate support for the Palestinians in Gaza amidst the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Tensions in the region have surged due to Israel's military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of over 44,400 individuals, predominantly women and children, and left more than 105,200 injured since October of the previous year.
The second year of the Gaza conflict has provoked increasing global outcry, with various officials and organizations condemning the assaults and the obstruction of humanitarian aid as a calculated effort to annihilate a population.
On November 21, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice regarding its deadly operations in Gaza.
