Israeli Officer Dies in Anti-Tank Missile Strike in Gaza

Jerusalem, Dec 8 (NationPress) An Israeli officer has lost his life in the southern region of Gaza, as confirmed by a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The statement identified the officer as Avraham Ben Pinchas, who held the position of platoon commander in the 46th Battalion of the IDF's 401st Armoured Brigade, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
As per Israel's Channel 12 News, the officer was killed on Saturday when an anti-tank missile struck the tank he was operating.
The IDF reported that Ben Pinchas marks the 809th Israeli soldier to be killed since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict last year.
In response to a Hamas assault on the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities and around 250 hostages, Israel has been conducting extensive operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Health authorities from Gaza have reported that the Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli military operations has risen to 44,664.
