Istanbul Airport Set to Initiate Concurrent Takeoff and Landing Operations Across All Three Runways

Istanbul, Dec 10 (NationPress) Istanbul Airport, Turkey's most significant aviation hub, is preparing to commence concurrent takeoff and landing operations on all three of its runways to manage the rising passenger volume, according to an announcement made by the transport and infrastructure minister.
"On April 17, 2025, we will start simultaneous takeoff and landing operations on all three runways at Istanbul Airport," stated Abdulkadir Uraloglu in his remarks.
"This initiative will help us reduce operational delays. Furthermore, it will enhance fuel efficiency and overall flight performance," the minister added.
As part of its expansion blueprint, the airport is set to feature six runways by 2028. "With the introduction of the new runways, the effectiveness of air traffic operations will further improve," Uraloglu emphasized.
The airport catered to around 76 million passengers last year and aims to boost this figure to 81 million by the close of this year.
Istanbul Airport officially commenced operations in late October 2018 and became fully functional by early April 2019.
