New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar conveyed his best wishes to Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Austria's Foreign Minister, and the citizens of Austria on their National Day, emphasizing India's desire to further enhance the partnership between the two countries.
In a post shared on X, EAM Jaishankar mentioned, "Congratulations to FM Beate Meinl-Reisinger, the Government, and the people of Austria on their National Day. I am eager to strengthen the Enhanced India-Austria Partnership."
This week, the Austrian Embassy in India also extended greetings for Diwali, with Ambassador Katharina Wieser expressing wishes for joy and prosperity during the Festival of Lights.
EAM Jaishankar previously met with Beate Meinl-Reisinger at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this past September.
He remarked on X, "I was delighted to meet FM Beate Meinl-Reisinger of Austria today. We had a dynamic discussion about current geopolitics and the choices facing India and Europe."
Earlier in May, EAM Jaishankar held a phone conversation with Beate Meinl-Reisinger to congratulate her on her new role as Foreign Minister. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism and their firm stance against nuclear threats.
After their discussion, Jaishankar noted on X, "I valued our conversation today with Austrian FM Beate Meinl-Reisinger. I congratulated her on her new role and we agreed on a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and a strong opposition to nuclear blackmail. We also discussed our impressive bilateral relations and the situation in Ukraine."
Diplomatic ties between India and Austria were established in 1949, and last year, Prime Minister Modi visited Austria, marking the 75th anniversary of these relations.
During this visit, he engaged with President Alexander Van der Bellen and then-Chancellor Karl Nehammer, as well as addressing an India-Austria Business Meeting and interacting with notable Austrians, including Indologists, as reported by the Indian Embassy in Austria.
