New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Friday conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the citizens of Nepal on their National Day and reaffirmed the commitment to further enrich the multifaceted partnership between the two nations.
In a post on X, EAM Jaishankar remarked, "Warm greetings to the Government and citizens of Nepal on their National Day. We are dedicated to enhancing our multifaceted partnership."
During a recent phone call with Nepal's interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Thursday, PM Modi also shared his warm wishes with her and the Nepalese population, reiterating India's unwavering support for her initiatives aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Himalayan region.
"I had a cordial discussion with Mrs Sushila Karki, Prime Minister of Nepal's interim government. I expressed heartfelt condolences regarding the recent tragic loss of lives and reaffirmed India's constant support for her endeavors to restore peace and stability. I also extended my warm wishes to her and the people of Nepal on their National Day," PM Modi shared on X following their meeting.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), also emphasized New Delhi's unwavering support for Kathmandu during a media briefing in New Delhi on Friday.
"When the new interim government was established in Nepal, we issued a welcoming statement. Following that, we had a telephonic conversation between our Prime Minister and Prime Minister Karki, where we reiterated and reaffirmed our unwavering support to Nepal, ensuring all necessary assistance for establishing peace and stability.
“As a development partner, fellow democracy, and close neighbor, we have extended comprehensive support to Nepal to facilitate the swift restoration of peace and stability in the country. This partnership aims at working collaboratively for the progress and prosperity of both nations' peoples,” Jaiswal articulated.
On September 13, PM Modi congratulated Karki on her ascension to the role of Prime Minister of Nepal's interim government, emphasizing India's dedication to the peace and prosperity of Nepal.
Prior to this, on September 12, India welcomed the establishment of a new interim government in Nepal under Karki's leadership, expressing hope that this political transition would foster peace and stability. The MEA reiterated India's commitment to bolstering ties with Nepal during this transformative phase.
“We welcome the formation of a new Interim Government in Nepal, led by Honourable Mrs Sushila Karki. We are optimistic that this will contribute to enhancing peace and stability,” the MEA stated.
