New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) Emphasizing New Delhi's unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in Nepal, India assured on Friday that, as a close neighbor and fellow democracy, it will persist in collaborating with the Himalayan nation for the well-being and prosperity of the citizens of both countries.

“Upon the establishment of the new interim government in Nepal, we issued a welcoming statement. Subsequently, there was a telephonic discussion between our Prime Minister and Prime Minister Karki, during which we reaffirmed our steadfast support to Nepal, ensuring all necessary assistance in fostering peace and stability,” stated Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a weekly media briefing on Friday.

“As a development partner, fellow democracy, and close neighbor, we have extended comprehensive support to Nepal to facilitate the prompt restoration of peace and stability in the nation. Our relationship is one where we will strive together for the advancement and prosperity of the people from both countries,” he further noted.

Reiterating India’s complete support for Nepal, Jaiswal added that India is prepared to continue collaborating closely with Nepal to further enhance the special ties that exist between the two nations.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Nepal's Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, reaffirming India's consistent support for her initiatives to restore peace and stability within the Himalayan country.

PM Modi also conveyed warm greetings to her and the people of Nepal during their National Day celebrations on Friday.

Following their dialogue, PM Modi posted on X, stating, “I had a warm conversation with Mrs. Sushila Karki, Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Nepal. I expressed heartfelt condolences for the recent tragic loss of lives and reaffirmed India's unwavering support for her efforts to restore peace and stability. Additionally, I extended warm wishes to her and the people of Nepal for their National Day tomorrow.”

On September 13, PM Modi congratulated Karki on her appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal's interim government, underscoring India's commitment to the peace and prosperity of Nepal.
