Japan Monitoring Developments in South Korea

Tokyo, Dec 4 (NationPress) Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba remarked on Wednesday that Japan is carefully observing the circumstances in South Korea with serious and grave concerns.
"We have been tracking (developments) since the sudden announcement of martial law with serious and grave concerns," Ishiba informed reporters, noting that he does not wish to comment on South Korea's internal matters, as reported by Xinhua news agency citing Kyodo News.
"The details surrounding the situation remain unclear, but the declaration of martial law is a serious issue," a source from Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs relayed to Kyodo News.
The circumstances in South Korea may be tumultuous, and Japan will continue to observe how the events unfold, the source added.
On Tuesday night, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol announced an emergency martial law, which was revoked early on Wednesday following the National Assembly's rejection of it.
According to the Constitution, the President must rescind martial law when the 300-member parliament calls for its removal with a majority of lawmakers voting in favor.
