Amman, Feb 13 (NationPress) Jordan is prepared to welcome 2,000 sick Gaza children for essential medical care, as the health infrastructure in the coastal region has been severely compromised, stated Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan.
During a parliamentary meeting, Hassan reiterated Jordan's firm stance that there should be no resettlement or displacement of Palestinians, emphasizing that solutions to the Palestinian situation must not come at Jordan's expense, according to the state-operated Petra news agency.
He asserted that Jordan will not make unilateral decisions regarding the future of Palestine and the surrounding region, highlighting the country's collaboration with Arab states, including Egypt and the Palestinians, to develop a cohesive Arab strategy for Gaza's reconstruction, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Supporting the resilience of Palestinians and advocating for their rightful claims are central to Jordan's mission, with a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, based on the creation of an independent Palestinian state, serving as the cornerstone for achieving regional peace, stability, and security, he added.
Hassan emphasized that the stability and security of Jordan, along with the protection of its citizens, are of utmost importance.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi reaffirmed on Wednesday that the nation will reject any proposals to transfer Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, including Jordan and Egypt.
“There are steadfast and consistent Jordanian positions. Palestinians cannot be moved to Egypt, Jordan, or any other Arab nation,” Safadi stated in an interview with Al Jazeera. He underscored that a just peace can only be realized through a two-state solution that guarantees Palestinian sovereignty and independence.
Both Jordan and Egypt have been vocally opposed to any forced relocation. The Palestinian Authority, Hamas, and various Arab nations have outright dismissed Trump's plan, while China has also declared, “Gaza belongs to Palestinians.”
Hassan's comments followed Jordanian King Abdullah II's rejection of US President Donald Trump's suggestion to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip during a recent visit to Washington.
Previously, Trump proposed that the US should take control of Gaza and facilitate the relocation of Palestinians to neighboring Jordan and Egypt, a suggestion that has been met with widespread condemnation.
Trump later implied that the US could “potentially withhold aid” from Jordan and Egypt if they did not consent to accept Palestinian refugees.
