Kim participated in the 'K-Dream Stage: All India K-Pop Grand Championship', an annual event organized by the Korean Cultural Centre, as a special guest while accompanying President Lee Jae Myung on his official visit to India, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
She emphasized that this occasion underscored the increasing admiration for Korean culture in India and expressed her hope that the participants would act as a conduit between the two nations.
"I am confident that each of you will emerge as influential figures in crafting a new global wave of popular culture, not just in India but also in Korea," she stated during her speech.
The contest showcased K-pop dance and singing competitions along with performances by renowned artists. Among the attendees was Park Jin-young, the founder of the K-pop giant JYP Entertainment and co-chair of the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange.
Kim remarked, "Culture possesses the ability to unite individuals across borders. I hope that today’s event will deepen mutual understanding and empathy between our cultures and further broaden exchanges between our two countries."
Earlier that day, the First Lady and President Lee Hau Myung honored Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in New Delhi.
The South Korean President is currently engaged in a three-day state visit to India. He was welcomed at the airport in New Delhi on Sunday by Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra alongside First Lady Kim Hea Kyung.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that President Lee's visit to India signifies an "important milestone" in enhancing the special strategic partnership between the two nations.
