New Delhi, April 16 (NationPress) South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to embark on a State Visit to India from April 19 to 21 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday.
During his time in India, President Lee will engage in discussions with PM Modi aimed at enhancing bilateral collaboration across multiple sectors, including shipbuilding, trade, investments, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and critical technologies. The leaders will also address regional and global matters of shared importance, as stated by the MEA.
This visit marks President Lee Jae Myung's inaugural trip to India since taking office, and PM Modi plans to host a special lunch to honor the visiting President.
Accompanying President Lee will be South Korea's First Lady Kim Hea Kyung and a distinguished delegation consisting of Ministers, high-ranking officials, and business executives.
Additionally, President Lee is scheduled to hold discussions with President Droupadi Murmu, who will also host a banquet in his honor. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to meet with President Lee following his arrival in India.
According to the MEA, "India and the ROK (Republic of Korea) share a robust partnership deeply rooted in historical ties and common values of democracy and the rule of law. President Lee's visit signifies both nations' commitment to enhancing existing collaborations while exploring new areas of mutual interest."
In November, PM Modi met with President Lee during the G20 Summit held in Johannesburg, marking their second meeting in 2025 after discussions at the G7 Summit in Canada.
"I had a productive meeting with President Lee Jae Myung of the Republic of Korea at the Johannesburg G20 Summit. This is our second interaction this year, reflecting the strong momentum in our Special Strategic Partnership. We deliberated on ways to further strengthen our economic and investment ties," PM Modi shared on X following the meeting.
