Srinagar, March 25 (NationPress) A significant donation initiative has arisen from Srinagar and various regions in Jammu and Kashmir to show support for Iran, with contributions estimated between Rs 500–600 crore, as stated by Shia preacher and President of Majlis Ulama Imamia, Dr. Aga Syed Mudasir Rizvi.

In an interview with IANS, Rizvi praised the collective spirit of the community, describing it as a manifestation of core human values such as selflessness and sacrifice. “I commend this remarkable spirit. It reflects the inherent nature of humanity — the drive for sacrifice and selflessness. What we are witnessing today, particularly in the present circumstances, is emblematic of sincerity,” he remarked.

He underscored that the sight of a community resolutely facing challenges and making sacrifices in support of what they perceive as the truth encourages others to unite in solidarity. “When one observes a community steadfastly standing together, offering sacrifices and facing hardships for the sake of truth and to stand by the oppressed, it naturally compels you to contribute your own modest offering and show solidarity,” Rizvi pointed out.

Rizvi highlighted that the scale and variety of contributions have seen participation from individuals across different faiths. “Our outreach to friends has been reciprocated with their eagerness to contribute. People have engaged in this initiative without any religious divides; Shia, Sunni, and even non-Muslims have joined in,” he explained.

He elaborated that donations have taken various forms, including cash, gold, vehicles, utensils, and other vital items. “What you witness around you — utensils, cars, money, gold — all of this has been generously contributed by the people,” he noted.

Moreover, Rizvi mentioned that several professionals have sent substantial amounts directly to the Iranian embassy. “In addition, many individuals in professional capacities have directly transferred significant sums to the embassy. Therefore, I am not surprised by these figures — the total amount might even exceed these estimates,” he concluded.

Point of View

Showcasing how communities can unite for a cause beyond their immediate interests. While the contributions highlight the human spirit, they also underscore the importance of collective action in difficult times, drawing attention to the interconnectedness of global communities.
