Srinagar, March 27 (NationPress) A group of scholars from the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) of Kashmir, under the leadership of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, visited the Iranian ambassador in New Delhi on Friday to express their condolences regarding the martyrdom of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.
In an official statement released by MMU, it was noted: “The delegation, led by its patron @MirwaizKashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq along with Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosvi (@MosaviAga), and Aga Syed Hadi Al-Mosvi (@syedhadimoosavi), met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, and other officials in New Delhi today.”
“The delegation conveyed their heartfelt condolences regarding the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family, along with other leaders. They expressed profound solidarity with the Iranian people during this challenging time of invasion and adversity.
“Representing the people of Kashmir, the delegation expressed their sadness over the loss of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a revered leader of the Muslim Ummah.
“They voiced serious concerns about the ongoing conflict imposed on Iran by Israel and the United States, expressing hope that diplomatic initiatives would succeed in ending this aggression, thereby restoring peace and stability.
“The delegation also emphasized the long-standing cultural, historical, and religious connections between Kashmir and Iran, highlighting that Kashmir has often been referred to as ‘Iran-e-Sagheer’ (Little Iran), symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two regions. The MMU reiterated the importance of unity, resilience, and collective prayers for peace as essential for the Ummah to confront these challenges.”
In a related development, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made a statement in the legislative Assembly on Friday condemning the “unjust and illegal war imposed on Iran” and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to leverage his influence to mitigate the conflict in the name of humanity.
Abdullah’s statement in the Legislative Assembly came after several members of the National Conference called for a brief statement, despite opposition from BJP MLAs, who argued that the Iran crisis is an international issue not relevant to the assembly.
“On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I strongly condemn this unjust and illegal war imposed on Iran. I extend my deepest condolences for the loss of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his associates, as well as all those who have lost their lives in this conflict,” the Chief Minister stated.
