Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Denounces Assassination of Iran's Ali Larijani
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, March 18 (NationPress) The prominent Kashmiri cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, strongly criticized the deliberate assassination of Iranian National Security Council Secretary, Ali Larijani, calling it an act by the rogue state of Israel. “I condemn the targeted killing of Secretary Ali Larijani by the rogue state of Israel! The enduring spirit of the Iranian people and their leaders epitomizes the essence of a true Muslim nation—brave, unwavering, and firmly believing in Allah. Such individuals are meant to lead. As the Qur’an states: 'And the end is for the righteous' (7:128),” the Mirwaiz declared in a message shared on X.
“Contrary to this, many leaders in the Muslim world have revealed themselves as mere proxies, lacking the courage and conviction required,” he continued.
The Mirwaiz also mentioned that he was barred from delivering a sermon in Srinagar on Wednesday. “Once again, the fearful authorities of this police state have kept me away from the house of God during the holy month of Ramzan, as I was scheduled to preach at Gol Masjid in Karan Nagar today. What a disgrace!”
In light of the recent unrest in Kashmir following widespread protests against the U.S. and Israel that ignited on March 1 after reports of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death spread, authorities are taking no chances regarding law and order.
Efficient management by the police and security forces has ensured that there were no injuries or damage to public property during these protests.
The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, engaged with civil society members from various backgrounds, including religious, political, social, and business sectors in Srinagar, urging for a composed and respectful remembrance of the events, receiving a favorable response from the community.
