Seoul, Oct 9 (NationPress) High-ranking officials from Russia, China, and Vietnam have landed in North Korea, foreign media outlets disclosed on Thursday, in anticipation of the 80th founding anniversary of the North's ruling Workers' Party.

A Russian delegation headed by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, has reached Pyongyang to partake in the anniversary festivities, as reported by Russia's Tass news agency.

In another report, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) informed that a delegation led by Vietnam's Communist Party chief To Lam arrived in Pyongyang earlier today.

This visit marks the first trip to North Korea by Vietnam's top leader since 2007, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, according to VNA.

Lam engaged in discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, during which they committed to enhancing cooperation and elevating their bilateral relationship to new heights, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.

They also agreed to broaden high-level exchanges across various party, government, assembly, and regional sectors, and to collaboratively identify areas for cooperation.

Additionally, Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday, as noted by China's Xinhua News Agency.

Li's visit aims to partake in the 80th anniversary celebrations and conduct an official goodwill visit to North Korea. Xinhua highlighted the deep-rooted friendship enjoyed by the two countries as socialist neighbors.

The Chinese foreign ministry previously stated that Li will be in North Korea from Thursday to Saturday, leading a party and government delegation.

North Korea, which commemorates the party founding anniversary every October 10, is anticipated to host a grand military parade on this significant date as early as Thursday, according to sources.

Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un has pledged to “eliminate” any movements that threaten the authority of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and has called for stringent discipline, as reported by the North's state media on Thursday.

Kim made these statements during a visit to the Party Founding Museum in Pyongyang the day prior to the anniversary, as stated by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

“We must continue to firmly solidify a strict order and sound discipline within the Party, prioritizing the identification and elimination of elements that undermine the Party's leadership prestige,” Kim was quoted as saying in an English-language speech transcript by KCNA.

He urged a shift in the attitudes of party officials, warning them against “evil practices” such as ignorance, incompetence, irresponsibility, self-protection, formalism, and expediency, along with arbitrariness, high-handedness, and abuse of power.
