New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) A man has been detained in Delhi for his suspected involvement in the string of shootings at comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kaps cafe located in Canada.
Mansingh Sekhon, alleged to have supplied weapons and a vehicle to the assailants implicated in the July attack, escaped Canada in August and returned to India.
The Delhi Crime Branch, under the direction of DCP Sanjeev Yadav, apprehended Sekhon, who is also identified as Bandhu Maan Singh Shekhon, a notable figure within the Goldy Dhillon gang. Authorities confiscated a Chinese PX-3 pistol during the operation. The accused has an extensive criminal history and faces numerous charges in India.
The cafe in Vancouver has been subjected to three distinct shooting incidents since July. The latest shooting in October occurred just two weeks after the cafe resumed operations following previous attacks.
In response to these incidents, Kapil Sharma spoke at a press conference on November 26.
He stated, “This incident occurred in Canada... in Vancouver... and I believe there were three shooting incidents there. I think, based on the regulations there, perhaps the police lack sufficient authority to manage such events. However, when our case transpired, it was escalated to the federal level. Similarly to how we have our Central Government here, this matter was addressed in the Canadian Parliament.”
He further remarked, “I trust that whatever God chooses, we can’t always comprehend the reasoning behind it. Many individuals reached out to me, informing me that several similar incidents had transpired there previously. Yet, when the shooting took place at our cafe, it garnered major news coverage. Now, the police there and the law enforcement system are implementing measures for enhancement.”
Officials have confirmed that the investigation is still in progress, with the Delhi Police collaborating with Canadian authorities to ensure that all parties involved in the attacks are brought to justice.
The arrest of Sekhon is perceived as a pivotal move toward resolving the case and bolstering the safety of Indian nationals and entrepreneurs abroad.
The frequent attacks on Kaps cafe have raised significant alarms regarding security and the influence of organized crime, prompting decisive actions from both Canadian and Indian authorities.
