Masato Kanda Selected as the New President of ADB

Manila, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced on Thursday that its Board of Governors has unanimously chosen Masato Kanda as the 11th president of the ADB.
Kanda, aged 59, is currently serving as a special advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan and the Minister of Finance, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
He is set to take office on February 24, 2025, succeeding Masatsugu Asakawa, who will conclude his term on February 23 of the coming year.
Kanda is expected to fulfill the remaining term of Asakawa, which will wrap up on November 23, 2026.
'Kanda's vast expertise in international finance and his demonstrated leadership in multilateral contexts will greatly benefit the ADB as it tackles intricate global economic challenges and promotes international collaboration,' stated Fabio Panetta, Chair of the ADB Board of Governors and Governor of the Bank of Italy.
