Washington, Feb 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions about India's reforms with Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla and SpaceX, who is also a prominent advisor to President Donald Trump.

Following his meeting with Musk, who oversees the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), PM Modi shared on X, "I spoke about India's initiatives towards reform and promoting 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance'."

Musk is spearheading a comparable initiative in the US aimed at enhancing government efficiency and eliminating waste.

Musk visited the Prime Minister at the Blair House, a US government facility located just under 100 meters from the White House, where he was scheduled to meet with President Trump later that day.

Modi noted in his X post, "We covered various topics, including those that excite him such as space, mobility, technology, and innovation."

Accompanying Prime Minister Modi were External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Musk was accompanied by his family, including X, the five-year-old who recently shared the spotlight with his father and President Trump during a joint news briefing at the Oval Office earlier this week.

Shivon Zillis, the mother of some of his children and a business associate, was also present at the meeting.

Prime Minister Modi and Musk have met multiple times before, beginning with Modi’s 2015 visit to Tesla’s San Jose facility, where Musk provided him with a personal tour.

Musk has considered creating a more budget-friendly version of Tesla for the Indian market, although progress has been slow.

Musk holds significant sway in the Trump administration, with the President assigning him the task of enhancing federal government efficiency, making it leaner and more cost-effective. His initiatives have already led to the closure of the US Agency for International Development, merging its operations with the State Department, which previously had nominal oversight.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi welcomed National Security Advisor Mike Waltz at Blair House on Thursday and Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday, who met with him shortly after being confirmed as the Director of National Intelligence, making her the head of the US's 18-member Intelligence Community.
