Quetta, July 15 (NationPress) A Baloch human rights organization disclosed a recent event where Pakistani forces executed a mortar strike on a football field in the Kech district of Balochistan, resulting in the death of a teenager and injuries to six others.
On July 10, the Frontier Corps (FC) of Pakistan targeted a football ground in the Gwarkop region of Kech district, leading to the tragic death of a 15-year-old. Alongside, six individuals suffered injuries, one of whom is currently in a coma and battling for survival.
"On the evening of July 10, 2025, a mortar shell indiscriminately launched by Pakistan's FC struck a football field in the Gwarkop area, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy and injuring six others. The shell exploded while a group of young civilians was gathered to play football. Ali, the son of Ghulam Jan, aged 15, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a hospital in Turbat," the human rights organization, Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), stated on X on Tuesday.
"Among the injured is Shahab, a 20-year-old son of Dostil, who is currently in a coma due to severe injuries at a hospital in Karachi. Another critically injured individual, Jameel, aged 30 and son of Dil Murad, is also receiving treatment in Karachi," the statement further elaborated.
The rights organization pointed out that the other injured civilians include Naseer, aged 30, presently hospitalized in Karachi, and Jamal, aged 25, Barkat, aged 24, and Wazeer, aged 27.
The BYC emphasized that local eyewitnesses and residents reported that the mortar was "deliberately fired" by FC personnel into a civilian-populated area, describing the incident as a troubling development that raises serious concerns about the targeting of "innocent civilians" and the "use of indiscriminate violence."
Another Baloch human rights organization vehemently condemned the lethal mortar attack executed by Pakistani security forces.
"This targeted assault on civilians illustrates the ongoing trend of state violence in Balochistan and necessitates urgent scrutiny and accountability," stated Paank, from the Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department.
Numerous human rights organizations in Balochistan have repeatedly brought attention to the oppression by Pakistani forces in the region, which includes violent raids on the residences of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful detentions, enforced disappearances, a 'kill and dump' policy, arrests under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the filing of fabricated police cases.
