No Immunity for President-elect: Manhattan Prosecutors

New York, Dec 11 (NationPress) Prosecutors in Manhattan are advocating for a New York criminal court to maintain the momentum of President-elect Donald Trump's hush money case, even if the sentencing is delayed beyond Trump's forthcoming presidential term.
“President-elect immunity does not exist,” the attorneys from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office asserted in a court filing released on Tuesday. “At most, (Trump) should receive temporary accommodations during his presidency to prevent this criminal case from meaningfully interfering with his official decision-making.”
Trump faced conviction on May 30 for 34 felony counts concerning the falsification of business records intended to conceal a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels just prior to the 2016 presidential election, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Initially, he was set to be sentenced in July, but that date has been postponed multiple times, according to USA Today.
Trump is currently contending that the sentencing should be annulled and the case dismissed due to his electoral victory.
“Burdening the Presidency with a biased prosecution by a local prosecutor would be not only unconstitutional but also unbearably undemocratic to the people of this country who chose President Trump as their leader,” Trump's legal representatives stated in a motion requesting the case's dismissal.
