Did Pakistani Forces Execute Two Civilians in Balochistan?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Quetta, Feb 5 (NationPress) A prominent human rights organization reported that two Baloch civilians were killed extrajudicially by Pakistani forces in Balochistan on Thursday.
This alarming incident occurs amidst a concerning rise in targeted executions and enforced disappearances throughout the region.
According to the Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, Balach Khalid, a resident of Turbat in the Kech district, was murdered by a Pakistan-supported death squad on Wednesday after enduring multiple enforced disappearances.
Local sources indicate that armed motorcyclists linked to this death squad opened fire on Balach and fled the scene.
As reported by Paank, Balach was initially abducted on the night of October 25, 2023, and released after 25 days on November 15, 2023. Subsequently, he faced another enforced disappearance before being handed over to Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), from which he was released after several months.
“Before his murder, Balach reportedly survived at least two previous assassination attempts by the same group,” the rights organization stated.
Additionally, Paank reported that another Baloch civilian, Babu Atta Muhammad Badini, aged 60, was killed on February 3 due to direct gunfire from the Pakistani Army in the Killi Qazi Abad area of Nushki district.
Information indicates that Pakistani forces opened fire in the vicinity, resulting in his death.
“This incident underscores the ongoing pattern of lethal force employed against civilians in Balochistan,” Paank emphasized.
Highlighting the atrocities in Balochistan, the rights organization also reported the enforced disappearance of a 15-year-old student, Hasnain Baloch, on February 3 from the Killi Asghar Abad Sariab Customs area in the provincial capital, Quetta, at the hands of the Pakistan Army.
In its recent annual human rights report titled “A Year of Repression: Balochistan 2025,” Paank documented extensive human rights violations across the province in 2025.
The report highlighted 1,355 cases of enforced disappearances, 225 extrajudicial killings, repeated aerial assaults on civilian areas, and the alleged systematic misuse of legal and administrative measures aimed at suppressing peaceful civic movements and restricting information to silence victims’ families and witnesses.
According to Paank, Pakistan’s apparatus—primarily the military, various intelligence agencies, and the paramilitary Frontier Corps—has intensified its campaign against the Baloch populace through a strategic combination of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and the innovative use of sophisticated aerial warfare technology against civilian populations.
