Quetta, Aug 9 (NationPress) Prominent Baloch human rights advocate, Mir Yar Baloch, criticized Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday for drawing attention to the suffering of the Palestinian people while simultaneously ignoring its own brutal terrorism and prolonged conflict with the Baloch people.
Baloch pointed out that while Pakistan lectures the world on justice, human rights, and the Palestinian situation, it is concurrently engaging in widespread human rights violations in Balochistan.
His comments followed Sharif's social media condemnation of the Israeli cabinet's approval of a plan to take control of Gaza City, labeling it illegal and illegitimate.
“Pakistan’s hypocrisy is evident: it sheds crocodile tears for Palestinians while ruthlessly suppressing the Baloch people's quest for independence with unmatched brutality and state terror. If Islamabad genuinely believed in freedom, justice, and human rights, it would first terminate its illegal occupation of Balochistan and permit the Baloch people to peacefully determine their future,” Mir expressed on X.
The activist insisted that Pakistan's military is committing the very atrocities it accuses Israel of, including forced displacement of entire villages, systematic oppression, extrajudicial killings, bombardment of civilian zones, enforced disappearances, cultural destruction, and deliberate annihilation of livelihoods in Balochistan.
“While Pakistan calls for 'international intervention' in Gaza, it has effectively isolated Balochistan from humanitarian organizations, journalists, and human rights monitors, ensuring that its actions remain hidden from global scrutiny. No foreign aid is permitted, UN fact-finding missions are denied access, and independent humanitarian support is barred from reaching those suffering under military siege,” Mir stated.
“The 60 million Baloch people lack internet access due to an illegal order issued by Pakistan's rogue military,” he added.
Mir stressed that the international community must recognize that Pakistan's moral posturing regarding Palestine serves merely as a distraction from its own war crimes in Balochistan. He asserted that just as it advocates for the protection of innocent civilians in Gaza, a similar call must be made for the Baloch people, who have endured over seven decades of military oppression without international aid.
