PM Modi Acknowledges the Crucial Role of Indian Workers in Kuwait's Development

Kuwait City, Dec 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Indian workers overseas during his stop at a labour camp in Mina Abdullah, Kuwait, which was the inaugural official event of his significant visit to the West Asian country.
The labour camp is home to around 1,500 Indian nationals hailing from various states across India.
While interacting with the workers, PM Modi checked on their well-being and pointed out several welfare measures implemented by the Indian government over the past decade.
He spoke with a worker from Tamil Nadu, inquiring if he maintained regular contact with his family via video calls, noting that affordable internet access in India has facilitated such communication.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed his dedication to 'Viksit Bharat 2047', stressing that this initiative is focused on improving connectivity and transportation for Indian workers abroad.
A welder from Bihar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the inauguration of the new Nalanda University campus in Bihar and for his unwavering commitment to the nation's progress.
PM Modi replied, "You labor for your family. I also work for my family -- 140 crore Indians."
He highlighted crucial government initiatives like PM Awas Yojana, Har Ghar Nal Yojana, and the Swachh Bharat Mission, which have significantly enhanced the living conditions for many Indians.
While engaging with a Gujarati technician, the Prime Minister underscored the vital role of Indians working abroad in driving the nation's development.
"Despite living here for years, your contributions to India's advancement are invaluable. The remittances you send home each month have positioned India among the leading nations globally," he stated, addressing the workers at the camp.
PM Modi also recognized the respect that Indian workers have garnered on an international scale.
"Indian workers are esteemed worldwide for their integrity, hard work, and commitment. This reputation has been earned over many years of effort. That is why today, India's youth are highly sought after globally," he added.
He congratulated the workers for their invaluable contributions and remarked, "Whenever something positive occurs in India, your joy increases exponentially. I am here to celebrate each of you for your unwavering dedication and toil."
The Prime Minister's visit to the labour camp is particularly significant, especially following the tragic fire incident in the Mangaf area of Kuwait City in June this year, which resulted in the loss of several Indian lives.
In the aftermath of the calamity, the Indian government acted promptly, sending Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh to Kuwait under the Prime Minister's guidance.
In spite of major political events in India, including the swearing-in of governments in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, PM Modi remained actively involved in overseeing rescue operations.
Since the tragedy, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait has been diligently working to ensure safety protocols at labour camps and housing facilities for Indian workers.
In 2021, India and Kuwait formalized an agreement aimed at protecting the rights of Indian domestic workers in Kuwait, focusing on worker safety and adherence to local regulations.
This visit further underscores the government's dedication to the welfare of Indian citizens abroad, honoring their efforts and contributions to India's global standing.
