PM Modi Commends Indian Diaspora's Contribution to Kuwait's Growth, Envisions India as Future Global Development Center

Kuwait City, Dec 21 (NationPress) Applauding the diligent efforts, accomplishments, and contributions of the Indian community towards the growth of Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday invited members of the diaspora to take part in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Maha Kumbh events scheduled for next month, asserting that India of the future will emerge as the center of global development and the world's growth engine.

Speaking to a large assembly of the Indian diaspora at a special 'Hala Modi' event held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex in Kuwait City, PM Modi commended their crucial contributions and the essential role played by the Indian community in enhancing India-Kuwait relations.

"I am here not only to meet you, but to celebrate your triumphs. Recently, I had the privilege of meeting Indian workers engaged in diverse professional fields. They are involved in construction, among other sectors, contributing significantly. Indian doctors, nurses, and paramedics form a vital part of the medical sector in Kuwait. Those among you who are educators are shaping the future of Kuwait. The doctors, architects, and other professionals are instrumental in building Kuwait's workforce. The people of Kuwait hold you in high regard due to your diligence, integrity, and expertise," said PM Modi.

While addressing Indian nationals from various backgrounds in Kuwait, the Prime Minister shared India's philosophy of being a 'Vishwabandhu' (friend to the world) and elaborated on the country's rapid advancements, particularly in technology, infrastructure, and sustainability.

"You have come from India and made your home here, yet you have retained the essence of Indianness within you. India is progressing with a renewed mindset. Currently, India ranks as the fifth-largest economy globally and boasts the world's leading fintech ecosystem," he remarked.

PM Modi also highlighted significant achievements such as financial inclusion, women-led development, and inclusive growth, while underlining the common aspirations of both nations—'Viksit Bharat' and 'New Kuwait'—emphasizing the immense potential for collaboration between India and Kuwait.

He expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti leadership for their support towards the Indian community and reflected on India's unwavering commitment to aiding Indian workers in Kuwait and the Gulf through technology-driven initiatives like the E-Migrate portal.

"India has the potential to become the world's skill capital. For many decades ahead, India will retain its status as the youngest nation globally. In this context, India is poised to fulfill the global demand for skills. To achieve this, India is aligning its skill development programs with international requirements. In recent years, India has entered into migration and employment agreements with nearly two dozen nations, including Gulf countries, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Mauritius, the UK, and Italy. Nations worldwide are welcoming India's skilled workforce," he mentioned.

While sharing progress and achievements with the diaspora, PM Modi asserted that the India of tomorrow will serve as the hub of global development and the world's driving force.

"India is increasingly becoming digitally adept, and this is merely the beginning. The innovations of tomorrow will shape India's future and guide the entire globe. Future India will indeed be a center for global development and the engine of worldwide growth," he stated.

As the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Gulf nation in 43 years, PM Modi specifically noted that the relationship between India and Kuwait is deeply rooted in civilization, maritime ties, affection, and commerce, with both nations positioned along the Arabian Sea.

"India was among the first nations to recognize Kuwait's independence. Thus, visiting a country that holds so many memories, and to which our present is deeply connected, is exceptionally meaningful for me...

"This moment is particularly special for me. After over four decades—43 years—an Indian Prime Minister has arrived in Kuwait. While it takes just four hours to fly from India to here, it has taken the Prime Minister four decades to make this journey," he expressed.

During his address, PM Modi remarked on the extraordinary warmth and affection of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait.

"I arrived in Kuwait merely two and a half hours ago, and from the moment I stepped foot here, I have felt a unique sense of warmth and connection. People have come from various Indian states, and looking at all of you feels like a 'Mini India' has assembled before me," he said.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister invited diaspora members to engage in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Maha Kumbh events set to take place in India in January 2025.

"The first month of the new year, January 2025, will be filled with numerous national celebrations. The 'Pravasi Bharatiya Divas' will occur in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) from January 8 to 10, welcoming attendees from around the world, and I extend a warm invitation to all of you. Following that, please join us in Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) for the Maha Kumbh, which will take place from January 13 to February 26," concluded PM Modi.
