Vladivostok, Sep 6 (NationPress) Russian President Vladimir Putin is well-versed in contemporary slang, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who spoke on Saturday during the 10th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2025) taking place in Vladivostok.
"The President has a family and grandchildren. Naturally, the influences of modern subculture are things he cannot overlook," Peskov was cited as saying by the prominent Russian publication Izvestia.
When reporters inquired if contemporary slang was utilized in official gatherings, Peskov indicated that in his daily life, the Russian leader still communicates differently and refrains from using youth slang during professional interactions.
During his official trip to Vladivostok on September 4, the Russian leader learned about new slang terms such as "cringe", "guyz", "troubles", and "chill rink", as reported by the newspaper.
Putin attended the 'Unique Russian Language' exhibit at the EEF, where he was shown how phrases with similar meanings evolve across different time periods. The Russian President even suggested participating in a game involving youth slang at one of the interactive displays, where he needed to correctly stress words.
Representatives from over 70 nations and territories are attending the EEF-2025 from September 3–6 in Vladivostok, organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
This forum serves as a crucial international venue for establishing and enhancing connections between the Russian and global investment sectors, providing a thorough expert review of the economic potential within the Russian Far East, alongside showcasing its investment opportunities and business environments in advanced development zones.
The central theme of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 is 'The Far East - cooperation for peace and prosperity.'
Events at the forum include panel discussions, round tables, televised debates, business breakfasts, and dialogues focusing on Russia's relations with various nations.
"In light of geopolitical shifts, officials, politicians, entrepreneurs, and experts at the Forum will engage in meaningful discussions about the future of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and countries in the Asia-Pacific region," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated at the event’s commencement.
"The involvement of delegates from more than 70 countries and regions underscores the Eastern Economic Forum's reputation as a credible platform for business interactions, appealing to both Asia-Pacific nations and the global community. With a rich business agenda and diverse cultural and sporting activities at the EEF, an environment conducive to open and mutually beneficial conversations is fostered, allowing us to shape the future economy based on trust and respect," emphasized Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the EEF Organizing Committee.
