Qatar to Reestablish Embassy in Syria

Doha, Dec 11 (NationPress) Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed on Wednesday its plan to soon reinstate the country's embassy in Syria.

This action is intended to strengthen the deep-rooted historical bonds between the two nations and their citizens, according to a statement from the ministry, citing spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari.

Al Ansari emphasized that this decision signifies Qatar's steadfast commitment to supporting the Syrian population in their pursuit of a state built on justice, peace, stability, and prosperity.

Moreover, he pointed out that the reopening of the embassy will improve collaboration with relevant entities to expedite the delivery of humanitarian assistance provided by Qatar through an air bridge to the Syrian populace, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

In July 2011, following the onset of anti-government demonstrations in Syria, Qatar had recalled its ambassador and shut down its embassy.
