Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Moscow, March 15 (NationPress) In a statement on Sunday, Russia reported the downing of 605 drones, 12 HIMARS rockets made in the US, two Neptune long-range missiles, and four guided aerial bombs launched by the Ukrainian military.
Additionally, Russian forces targeted energy and transportation facilities utilized by Ukrainian troops, as well as sites involved in the training and launching of long-range drones, and temporary deployment locations of Ukrainian armed groups and foreign mercenaries, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.
Earlier on the same day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced via social media that Russia's air defense systems successfully intercepted 28 Ukrainian drones approaching Moscow, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted on Saturday that Russia had launched around 430 drones and multiple ballistic missiles at Ukraine, emphasizing the crucial role of an air defense system as a "daily necessity" for the nation.
He called for expedited agreements on missile supplies and urged for the production of air defense missiles.
In a post on X, he stated, "Russians have launched approximately 430 drones of various types and a significant number of missiles. There were 13 ballistic missiles alone, contributing to a total of 68 missiles in this assault. Preliminary data indicates that our air defense system intercepted 58 of them."
This post further highlighted the importance of air defense, stating, "Every night of Russian strikes serves as a reminder to our partners that air defenses and the missiles to support them are an essential daily requirement. Agreements concerning missile supplies must be implemented without delay. Our initiatives to boost air defense missile production are vital and demand complete attention. Russia will try to take advantage of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East to inflict further destruction in Europe and Ukraine. Thus, we must remain acutely aware of the genuine level of threat and prepare accordingly, particularly in Europe where we need to enhance the production of air defense missiles—especially those capable of countering ballistic threats—as well as all other systems necessary for safeguarding lives, irrespective of global events. Europe is capable of ensuring this level of reliable protection. Thank you to all who are assisting!"
