Moscow, Aug 4 (NationPress) The Russian air defense forces successfully thwarted a major drone attack aimed at the transport and energy infrastructure in the Volgograd region during the night, as reported by local authorities on Monday.
Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed via social media that there were no casualties.
Bocharov mentioned that debris from intercepted drones caused damage to a high-voltage power line, leading to power outages in the town of Ilovlya and surrounding areas. Emergency teams are in action to restore electricity.
Meanwhile, in the town of Frolovo, a fire broke out at a technical facility at the Archeda railway station, resulting in temporary train suspensions as explosive ordnance disposal teams worked to disarm an unexploded drone that had fallen on the tracks, according to Xinhua news agency.
Six trains, including long-distance services bound for Moscow and St. Petersburg, experienced delays due to this incident, as confirmed by the Privolzhskaya branch of Russian Railways.
On the previous day, Russian air defense forces managed to destroy and intercept 41 Ukrainian drones across various regions in under four hours.
