Washington, Dec 16 (NationPress) Tara Chand, the President of the Baloch American Congress, has called upon Bollywood actors and the Indian film industry to create a compelling film that underscores Pakistan's “forced occupation” of Balochistan.
In a statement on the social media platform X, Chand expressed, "The film should reveal the reality that Balochistan gained independence but was then forcibly and undemocratically occupied by Pakistan in March 1948. Since that time, the Pakistani army has invaded and dominated Balochistan and its territories."
He alleged that for decades, Pakistan has plundered billions of dollars worth of Balochistan’s natural resources. The Baloch leader accused the Pakistani military of exploiting resources such as natural gas, minerals, gold, silver, coal, and even coastal and ocean resources, while the Baloch people remain deprived and oppressed.
Chand asserted that the people of Balochistan began resisting this “forced occupation” from the very beginning. "The Baloch have revolted numerous times against Pakistani governance, with the largest uprising commencing around 2000, and this resistance persists today. Throughout this ongoing battle, the Pakistani army has killed countless Baloch individuals and committed severe human rights abuses," he stated.
He pointed out that the Pakistani army is still accountable for mass enforced disappearances, including the abduction of political activists, lawyers, teachers, doctors, students, educated youth, and women throughout Balochistan.
"Thousands of Baloch men and women are trapped in military prisons without due process. Despite enduring decades of oppression, the Baloch people continue to strive for their freedom and homeland. To this day, the Pakistani army kidnaps innocent Baloch individuals daily and coerces them into submission, yet the Baloch struggle for freedom remains vigorous," the Baloch leader emphasized.
Just last week, Chand brought the international community’s focus to the atrocities perpetrated by Pakistan's “radical Islamic army” in Balochistan, coinciding with the global observance of International Human Rights Day.
"Today is Human Rights Day globally, and we wish to remind the international community that Pakistan's radical Islamic army has committed significant atrocities in Balochistan. Mahrang Baloch and the BYC leadership have been unlawfully imprisoned by military agencies for months without any charges. Nasreen Baloch, Mehjeen Baloch, Fauzia Baloch, along with thousands of innocent Baloch students, lecturers, professors, doctors, and political activists are forcibly abducted and taken to clandestine torture camps," the Baloch leader posted on X.
